Who we are

Michael Zarrabian

Michael Zarrabian is a Patent & Intellectual Property attorney with more than 30 years of experience advising technology-driven companies on how to turn intellectual property into a strategic business asset. He has built his career around helping businesses ensure that IP strategy supports growth, commercialization, and long-term enterprise value, rather than functioning as a legal afterthought.

Before practicing law, Michael worked as an engineer, with hands-on experience spanning digital and analog circuit design, computer architecture, communications systems, real-time and embedded systems, enterprise software, networking, and spacecraft and satellite control systems. This technical foundation allows him to understand how complex technologies actually work, and to identify protectable innovation others may miss.

Michael’s practice spans the full scope of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, licensing, and IP commercialization, with a strong emphasis on IP strategy and portfolio alignment. He is deeply involved in AI-enabled technologies, regularly drafting and prosecuting patents for AI systems, software, machine learning algorithms, data-driven platforms, and complex electromechanical systems. His technical fluency enables him to translate sophisticated concepts into clear, defensible IP and practical legal strategies.

Known for his hands-on, business-focused approach, Michael works directly with founders, executives, and in-house teams, often on-site, to understand how innovation is developed and deployed in the real world. He partners with clients at critical inflection points, including product launches, AI integrations, capital raises, licensing initiatives, and acquisitions, ensuring that IP and AI initiatives are legally aligned and positioned to drive growth.

Michael holds a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science (magna cum laude) from UCLA, an M.S. in Computer Engineering from USC, and a J.D. from Loyola Law School.  Registered patent attorney.
